Bronson Thayer

Dear Friends:

On November 22, 2016, Bronson Thayer delivered a heartfelt and praiseful appreciation of Newell Flather’s role and contributions
to the class of 1961, as its First Marshall for the last fifty-five years.

On December 23, 2016, I heard from our classmate, Newt Merrill that Bronson had just died of complications from his long and
valiant fight against cancer.

I therefore would like to salute Bronson’s many contributions to our lives before and after graduation.

He was a sincere friend to me and a humble contributor to every cause he assisted; I can attest to his success, both personally
and from a distance.

To his wife, Stella, and his daughter, Susannah, we can only extend our sympathies, which are but a poor substitute for Bronson’s
steady and encouraging presence.
