October 4-5 Historical Tour News Flash

Dear Class Members:

Spencer Jourdain’s father Edwin’s (‘21) sister Shirley married Russell Peters (of Wampanoag descent). As  Chairman of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Council, Russell led the successful 35-year effort, to gain full federal tribal recognition.  Massasoit, as sachem or leader in 1620, of course, is credited for the support that kept them alive until Thanksgiving next year.

Russell’s son Robert Peters, age 45, and Spencer’s first cousin, is a folk artist.  He  will be joining the Class of 1961 Historic Tour to New Bedford and Plimoth.  Robert will join us as a subject matter expert.

We have a few openings left, if you would like to come.  Please email Sara McGhee semcghee@yahoo.com if you can attend the First Day, the Second Day, or Both Days.

With best regards,

Thomas N. Blodgett
