Invitation to Submit Newsletter Articles on Community Theme

Dear 1961 Classmates,

As you saw, we had a terrific first issue of the 1961 Class Newsletter.  If you did not see it, or would like a copy, let us know (tblodgett@ft.newyorklife.com) and we will send you one.  It is also posted on the Class Website.

We are seeking more contributors for our next issue.  This issue’s theme will be Community, in any of its connotations that you wish to explore.  Thus far we have three articles in the works.  One article is on family life deep in the remote Norwegian woods.  The second article is on inspired renovation of a Bronx neighborhood, with residents directing the effort.  A third describes post-WWII communities in transition.

Any of you who have written a book might select excerpts of 500 to 1,000 words that would be appropriate to our theme.  Perhaps Community in other times and places, or the spiritual factors that enrich Community.

The possibilities are endless.  If you want to discuss a concept, please call Peter Ellis at 617-491-2813 or Tom Blodgett at 603-924-8030 to bounce your ideas off us.  By all means, send us anything you have written that you feel will work.  If the time and place is significant to you, it will be significant to all our readers.  We look forward to hearing from you.

We would also appreciate your submitting comments on the articles in Issue #1, as well as any paragraph with an amusing or touching vignette.

With best regards,

Peter B. Ellis
