WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8
Hotel Check-In
Hotel check-in is at 4:00pm. Should you arrive prior to check-in the Hyatt welcomes you to pre-register and store your luggage until your room is available. Front Desk of the Hyatt Regency Boston / Cambridge Hotel, 575 Memorial Drive, Cambridge, MA 02139. Call 617-492-1234 for assistance.
Celebration Check-In
1:00 – 5:00 pm. Pick up your Celebration Name Badges and Schedule Handouts at the Harvard Registration located behind the hotel front desk.
Opening Reception
5:00 – 9:00 pm. The Charles View Ballroom on the 16th floor. Enjoy beautiful views, cocktails & hors d'oeuvres. Pick up your free Celebration Mug and, if you ordered one, your Commemorative Watch.
THURSDAY, JUNE 9
Breakfast
7:00 – 9:00 am. Join your Classmates at the Riverside Pavilion.
Memorial Service*
9:00 am – 12:00 pm. A bus will be provided at 9 am to take you to the Memorial Church. Please meet for pickup at the main entrance of the hotel. The Prelude and Postlude will be played by Mark DeVoto; the Alumni Choir will sing; and the names of all Class Members deceased since 2016 will be read.
At 11:30, we will go over to the Widener Steps for our traditional Class Photo.

Diorama Video Premier*
12:00 – 12:30 pm. We will watch the Documentary of the Pitman Diorama Restoration at the Carpenter Center.
Lunch
12:45 – 2:00 pm. Lunch at the Faculty Club on Quincy Street.
The Restored Pitman Dioramas
2:00 – 3:00 pm. Buses will take us to the HAA offices at 124 Mt. Auburn Street where we can view the 1677 and 1776 Restored Dioramas in their permanent, museum-quality cases in the HAA Atrium. At 2:45 pm, the buses will take us back to the Hyatt, where you can rest and dress for dinner.
Reception
5:30 – 6:30 pm. A Pre-Dinner Reception in the indoor/outdoor Riverside Pavilion.
Dinner
6:45 – 8:00 pm. Dinner in the Amesbury Ballroom.
Concert*
8:00 – 9:15 pm. The Alumni Chorus, composed of alumni from 1959 to 2019, singers from the Harvard Glee Club, the Radcliffe Choral Society, and the Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum, will delight you with a challenging classical repertoire.
After-Dinner Conversations
9:20 pm – 10:00 pm. We can enjoy late-night socializing in the Hyatt’s Paperback Lounge overlooking the Charles River located on the second floor.
FRIDAY, JUNE 10
Breakfast
7:00 – 9:00 am. The Riverside Pavilion.
Panel Presentations and Table Topics*
9:30 – 11:30 am. In the Amesbury Ballroom, six Presenters will each take five minutes to introduce the Topics we will be discussing.
- Avis Bohlen will present: Russia and Ukraine: How will this War Affect the World order?
- Tom Bartlett will present: China: Hostile Adversary or Friendly Competitor?
- Spencer Jourdain will present: Harvard’s Major Climate and Sustainability Initiative: Volunteer Opportunities
- Tom Blodgett and Bob Frank will co-present: Personal Health: Anti-Aging and Addressing the Challenges of Chronic Illness
- Doug Lind will present: Faith and Family: Achieving Integration
- Josh Young will present: Retirement Communities: Advantages of Assisted Living
At 10:00 am each of the Tables will choose a Topic and a Sub-Topic to spend an hour discussing these issues as a small group, each table selecting a spokesperson. The Presenters will be available to contribute where appropriate. At 11:00 am, the Table Spokespersons will each present a summary of conclusions reached.
Presentation of the Newell Flather Memorial Gift*
11:30 – 11:40 am. Remaining in the Amesbury Ballroom, Tom Blodgett will present the Gift to Newell Flather’s Family
Presentation of the 1961 Permanent Class Gift*
11:40 – 12:00 pm. Rights to the Diorama Video and the Calendar of Harvard Events will be transferred to the University.
Lunch
12:00 – 12:30 pm. We will stay in the Amesbury Ballroom, with box lunches before the next Presentation.
Vice Provost James Stock*
12:30 – 1:30 pm. After a Zoom Introduction by Tim Wirth, Harvard Vice Provost James Stock will speak on the new Harvard initiative on Climate and Sustainability, followed by a Q&A.
Visiting the New SEAS Building at the Allston Campus (Optional)*
2:30 – 4:00 pm. Optional Tour of Harvard’s new Science & Engineering building. Attendees will carpool or cab to 150 Western Ave, Allston, MA 02134. This is the most significant new building constructed by Harvard in a generation. Along with student- and industry-facing departments, sloped and flexible flat classrooms, maker space and teaching labs, it features a library, café, dedicated space for student organizations, and extensive common space to encourage interaction and collaboration. Please note: Transportation to and from is on your own; it wil not be provided.

Pre-Dinner Reception*
5:30 – 6:15 pm. We will relax, socialize and enjoy cocktails & hors d’oeuvres in the Charles View Ballroom with soft piano background music by Winiker Band pianist.

Dinner*
6:30 – 8:00 pm. Dinner in the Amesbury Ballroom with soft music by the Winiker Band through the first course. Dinner will also include Class Speeches and the Celebration Closing Announcements.
Dancing*
8:00 – 9:30 pm. You can dance to the strains of Winiker Band music, or enjoy watching classmates dance and listening to the kind of dance music our generation knows & loves.
